Wow! This week has flown by so quickly. Wednesday night at The Circus of Horrors show was no let down by any means. The show more than met all expectations and exceeded them in some ways too! Having never before witnessed a man swallow a curved sword, or twin blonde bombshells performing acrobatics whilst hanging from a trapeze only by their chins, or little people running around the stage with fireworks shooting sparks out of their backside after simulating physical intimacy with a Henry hoover, I needed a stiff drink so I headed to the only dedicated rock bar in Cardiff, Fuel.
Fuel is situated within Cardiff’s unofficial alternative quarter on Womanby Street. Nestled nicely next to The Moon Club and Clwb Ifor Bach, this venue compliments it’s surroundings very well. Since Fuel has taken over the venue, the business owners have put a lot of time, effort and money into making improvements to the place.
Recently they have fitted a stage area in the back room, along with a new lighting rig and sound booth. They have even completely refitted the bar area which is now on the other side of the room entirely. This venue is also great for disabled access as it is pretty much entirely on one level and has a disabled toilet. This is something lacking in many live music venues of this capacity (even some of the larger ones too!)
Upon my arrival at Fuel I hand in my flyer and am awarded a free shot with my drink. By the time I finished my first drink the cast from The Circus of Horrors had arrived at Fuel also. It seems that this is very much the place to be right now, which brings me to my next point…this Sunday
